Airport Drinking: St. Louis Lambert

Airport drinking. Whether it is to ease nerves or just kick of the vacation, there is something immensely satisfying about bellying up to an airport bar. We spend a lot of time in airports and most of that time is spent looking for bars with decent draught selections. Let us cut out some of that legwork for you. St. Louis is a beer city. Home of Anheuser-Busch (AB-InBev), obviously, but more importantly home of a thriving craft beer scene. We have had the pleasure of touring the city’s breweries on several occasions but this time we are taking a look at the airport, specifically Terminal 2.

There are plenty of bars in this terminal that serve the St. Louis basics, they are rightfully proud of their Bud history. However, we are here for some craft beer. First up, St. Louis stalwart, Schlafly. This outpost is cobranded with a Pasta House. They have 10 different Schlafly offerings on tap, full bar, and a robust food menu (including the famous St. Louis toasted raviolis). They also have a small store for takeaway beer (yes, you can buy beer to bring home post security) and merchandise.

Next up, another favorite: Urban Chestnut. While they do not offer their own food or a full bar, they are very close to The Great American Bagel and who could ask for more? With 9 draught offerings and a couple of 16oz cans (Urban Chestnut brews), this is a wonderful place to while away the time during a layover.

Finally, for those of us who have lounge access, either through Priority Pass directly or via a credit card (like the Amex Platinum), St. Louis Lambert does have a lounge called Wingtips. It is a fairly basic lounge but still offers a nice respite from the gate-wait life, especially during a delay. There is plenty of seating, lots of natural light, basic free food and drink options, with more variety in paid options available.
